Propellerhead Software Announces Education Package

NAMM ANAHEIM, CA • 15 January 2004 – Propellerhead Software, the Swedish company behind acclaimed products such as Reason, ReCycle and ReBirth, today announced Teaching Music with Reason, a curriculum for music education based on Reason. Based on a specially adapted version of Reason, the curriculum is designed for use by high school teachers in class music lessons. It can also be used as a basis for college level introductory modules in Music or Music Technology. Teaching Music with Reason is the first combination of software and curriculum combined in order to provide educators with complete integrated solution.

We know that Reason is widely used for teaching music at all levels. We decided to make it even easier by creating a package that could be used by the teacher right out of the box without prior knowledge of Reason, or endless hours of preparation, commented Ernst Nathorst-Böös, CEO of Propellerhead Software. We also wanted to create a method of music teaching that lets students explore their musical abilities, working with styles of music they listen to every day.

Teaching Music with Reason is a comprehensive package containing material for two semesters with 21 complete lessons, teachers lesson preparation material, teaching plans, student worksheets, student How-to guides, song files in contemporary styles, a full featured Reason version for the teacher and ten Reason Adapted student versions.

The product is designed to allow integration with existing areas of a particular national, state, or school curriculum, covering fundamental skills that include listening, understanding basic musical elements and applying technical knowledge in a creative context.

Teaching Music with Reason will be available during Q1 2004 from Reason dealers and distributors worldwide. Price: TBA.
