Imagine having access to the hardware synthesizer libraries “New Age / Pads”, “Analog Classics”, “Xtravaganza” - all once programmed by Bitley in the mid 1990s. Let’s add a perfect synthesizer model for this to work, and let’s build it with the NN-XT so everything works right inside Reason. This means all patches are fully reprogrammable and very flexible. We added Combinator favourites of these, with interactive button assignments and nice effects.

There are so many points with doing it this way, like the obvious: You don’t need the hardware synth any longer. What’s more like that? Well you have no polyphony limits at all, no limits on multitimbral parts, no limits due to the hardware instruments’ limitations for playing back everything without any latency whatsoever. You get lots of Players with Reason, meaningful and exciting arpeggiators and interactive “chord memory” things.

All in all we’re getting a very high end instrument with O8R and it’s all “just a refill”, even though creating it wasn’t anything like “simple”. The end result is simple to use, beautiful sounding and instantly waiting for new songs to be written. Welcome to O8R!
