Nailing that sound
At the heart of the RX1200 is our commitment to faithfully reproducing the signature sound of the SP‑1200. Besides the obvious 12‑bit resolution, the 26.041 kHz sample rate, and the SSM2044 low-pass filter emulation, the RX1200 infuses the inimitable 12-bit sound into your music with its distinctive grit, crunch, and warmth.
A streamlined interface
It’s more than just the juicy 12‑bit sound. With this unique workflow based on faders for adjusting tune, volume, and decay, the RX1200 puts you into an immersive and focused mindset for making edgy beats. Rather than making a 1:1 copy of the SP‑1200, we’ve designed the RX1200 as a more straightforward instrument with an easy learning curve. By removing the onboard sequencer, we’ve built our vision of an audio plug-in that integrates flawlessly with any DAW and puts sample performance at the forefront of your creative process.
Higher speed for lower fidelity
One of the most famous tricks used by SP‑1200 owners was to sample 33 RPM records at 45 RPM, then tune down the sample on the SP-1200 to save sampling memory. This technique gave the sampler its acclaimed signature sound. With the RX1200, you can speed up your samples and lower the Tune fader to enjoy the distinguished, classic lo-fi sound.
CV galore
The Rack Extension version of the RX1200 offers a full panoply of CV inputs for controlling/automating each pad’s Tune, Decay and Mix values. This makes possible the use of Players to fully automate and experiment with the RX1200. For example: use Reason’s stock RPG-8 to play melodies from one single pad.
