Fairlight II+ by Bitley
Fairlight CMI Legacy MK II+ is a re-release and expanded version of the original Fairlight-based ReFill first introduced in 2011. It is built around the complete Fairlight IIx library, but redesigned with a modern structure and updated programming for Reason users.
Instead of a traditional preset collection, MK II+ is organized as a modular system of virtual “machines”, each designed to serve a clear musical function. This makes the library faster to navigate and more intuitive to play and build arrangements with.
Key modules include AIRBASS, a dedicated bass system with deep and punchy Fairlight-style low end, and THE ORCH, focused on orchestral and cinematic textures. Additional machine-style groupings extend the concept across the entire library, giving the sound set a more instrument-like workflow.
The ReFill includes the full Fairlight IIx sample content, new signature patches, newly programmed Combinator instruments, and updated graphics across the Combinator interface. The material has been refined to improve playability and coherence while keeping the original character intact.
Fairlight MK II+ is compatible with Reason 4 and later, and is designed to integrate smoothly into both older and modern Reason setups. It functions as both a historical archive of Fairlight-era sound and a practical production tool for contemporary music.
It stands as a structured, performance-oriented reworking of classic digital synthesis and sampling history, reshaped for today’s production environment.
For users interested in studying the technique behind the Bitley demo music compositions, a lot of Reason arrangements are also available in this refill.
