1270 Hybrid Compressor

The 1270 Hybrid Compressor puts two classic compressor topologies under one set of knobs. At zero Saturation it behaves like a fast, precise VCA compressor with a hard knee. Turn Saturation up and it shifts toward a slower, warmer, program-dependent opto response with a 6 dB soft knee. Anywhere in between is a blend, so you can dial in the exact character a source needs instead of switching devices.

Hybrid character

The Saturation knob is the heart of the 1270. At 0 you get VCA behavior: fast, precise, hard-knee compression for drums, bass and anything that needs to stay tight. At 10 you get opto behavior: slower, program-dependent release with a 6 dB soft knee that flatters vocals, guitars and full mixes. Every position in between is a continuous blend of the two, so one device covers the range that usually takes two.

• Input and Output gain, -50 dB to +10 dB, each with a 10-segment LED meter
• Threshold, -40 dB to 0 dB
• Stepped Ratio: 1:1, 2:1, 4:1, 6:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1
• Attack 1 ms to 400 ms
• Release 25 ms to 10 s
• Dry/Wet mix for parallel compression without extra routing
• Saturation: continuous blend from VCA to opto character
• Three-way Bypass / On / Off switch with power LED

Sidechain and CV

Stereo external key inputs on the back panel let you compress from any signal in the rack for ducking, pumping and de-essing tricks. CV inputs on the rear open the main parameters to any CV source in Reason.

Metering and engine

True-peak detection, program-dependent release and smooth parameter transitions. Every parameter is automatable. The device folds to a compact single-height view that keeps the input and output meters visible.
