Go beyond basic transient shaping and explore detailed sound manipulation with BB TRS3. This versatile processor combines dynamic control, transient removal, and creative signal splitting into one flexible tool, designed to give you precise control over the texture and character of your audio.

At its core, BB TRS3 processes your audio in two stages. First, it splits the signal into three frequency bands. Then, within each band, it detects and separates the Transient (attack, hit, or pluck) from the Body (sustain and tone), giving you six discrete components to work with.

This structure allows detailed sound sculpting: emphasize a snare’s snap without boosting low-end, soften a guitar’s pick attack while keeping its warmth, or send only the body of a synth pad into reverb for ultra-smooth ambience. BB TRS3 is more than an effect—it’s a flexible, modular tool for shaping sound at a fundamental level.

Six-Part Signal Path

BB TRS3 gives you detailed control over your sound using six independent processing streams—Transient and Body for each of the Low, Mid, and High bands. Each stream includes:

• Gain – Boost or cut with precision. Red indicators warn of potential clipping.
• Clip – Add character with soft clipping or keep peaks in check.
• Knee – Adjust how aggressively the clipper reacts, from subtle to saturated.

Refined Transient Detection

Unlike standard transient processors, BB TRS3 uses a dual-threshold system for more accurate separation:

• Dual Thresholds – Separate settings for detecting Transients and Body allow for more natural and musical results.
• Envelope Shaping – Adjust Attack, Release, Env Boost, and choose from seven Shape curves to dial in the detector’s response exactly as needed.

Flexible Crossover Filters

Good multiband processing starts with good filters. BB TRS3 includes two high-quality crossover types with multiple slope options (12, 24, 48, and 96 dB/Oct):

• Linkwitz-Riley – Transparent, with flat summed response—ideal for most mastering and mixing tasks.
• Bessel – Preserves transient timing with excellent phase integrity, especially across crossover points.

Advanced Routing for Sound Designers

BB TRS3’s back panel opens up deeper creative options:

• Separate Outputs – Route the final Transient and Body signals individually. Send transients to distortion and the body to reverb, or sidechain a compressor from the transient path only.
• CV Integration – Modulate nearly every front-panel parameter via Reason’s CV system.
• Envelope CV Outputs – Use the plugin’s detection envelopes as modulation sources elsewhere in your patch.
• Lookahead – For precise separation without artifacts, the lookahead feature ensures the detector responds in time, even with fast material.
