WBF R3™
Way Beyond Fairlight Release Three
WBF R3™ is the massive follow-up & addition to WBF R2™ — rebuilt from the ground up for modern versions of Reason using Combinator 2, new instruments, deeper routing and a dramatically expanded sound design workflow.
Created over 15 years of sampling, programming and experimentation, WBF R3™ combines the spirit of the legendary Fairlight CMI with carefully selected analog and digital hardware chosen for pure character rather than trend.
The result is an enormous and highly musical production environment for Reason 12 and 13 users.
What’s inside?
WBF R3™ contains:
- 2,200 all new patches
- Around 8,000 categorized samples
- Deep Combinator 2 programming
- Advanced layered instruments
- Drum machines, polysynths, FX and textures
- Relooped and custom processed waveforms
- Experimental hybrid instruments
- Extremely playable performance patches
- Just a few favourites are retained from WBF R2
The library is carefully organized into easy-to-navigate categories including basses, drums, polysynths, FX patches, ambient textures and more.
Built for modern Reason
Unlike WBF R2™, which focused heavily on NN-XT and the original Combinator, WBF R3™ fully embraces the modern Reason ecosystem. The two refills are working excellent side by side of course, and that’s actually the intended usage.
WBF R3™ contains programming and sound design for:
- Grain
- Mimic
- Europa
- Malström
- Thor
- PolyTone
- MonoTone
- NN-XT
- Subtractor
- Redrum
- Dr. Octo Rex
- RV7000
- Scream
- Ripley
- The Echo
- Combinator 2
Many patches behave almost like dedicated Rack Extensions, such as the jaw dropping drum machine - it almost became too advanced for ourselves to design it. Bound to give pleasant creative surprises.
Hardware soul meets digital experimentation
The library includes material inspired by and sampled from carefully selected instruments including:
- Fairlight CMI
- Roland Jupiter 4
- Prophet 5
- Korg Lambda
- Vintage drum machines
- FM, additive and vector synthesis hardware
Everything was selected for personality, warmth, slight instability and musical inspiration.
Sound philosophy
WBF R3™ was never designed to become another sterile preset collection.
It was built to encourage experimentation, layering, strange combinations, happy accidents and deep musical exploration inside Reason.
Pads become cinematic landscapes.
Drum kits become entire rhythmic systems.
Simple synth lines suddenly feel alive.
