Ballooper Kinetic Ball Looper

Bounce the loops

DOODOV DIGITAL DESIGN

  • • Four balls, four loops, one bouncing arena
  • • Each ball plays its loop at the speed it moves
  • • 12 wall functions that reshape every loop

Ballooper is a looper you play like an instrument.

Every note you play launches a ball into a square arena. The ball records a short take of your audio, then plays it back in a loop while it bounces around. Its speed is the playback speed: when two balls collide, one speeds up and the other slows down, and you hear both loops bend in pitch and timing before they settle back.

Each of the four walls has a function of its own. Reverse the loop, restart it, halve or double its rate, jump to a random point, record a fresh take, or choke the ball altogether: every wall hit changes the music. Put different functions on different walls and the motion of the balls turns any input into a constantly evolving rhythm of loops.

Play in ROLL mode for continuous, drifting loops, or switch to HIT mode, where the balls are silent in flight and every wall hit fires a one-shot slice: drums turn into bouncing, ever-changing patterns. TAPE mode gives the classic varispeed sound; LOCK mode keeps the pitch steady so melodic material stays in key.

Hold the keys for loops that last as long as the note, or switch to LIFE mode and let each ball live on its own, from half a second to forever. Two stereo inputs to choose from per ball, a separate output for every ball and CV outputs for the ball positions and wall hits make Ballooper as much a modulation source as a looper.

Feed it drums, pads, vocals or a whole mix, and let the balls do the arranging.
