New track-centric workflow, powerful sequencer upgrades, and RV-9 Reverb Station—for faster, more intuitive music creation

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, April 8, 2026—3PM CET—Reason Studios today announced Reason 14, the latest version of its flagship digital audio workstation, marking the most significant evolution of its workflow to date. Currently in beta testing, the release introduces a new track-centric experience designed to give producers faster access, greater visibility, and more control across their projects, based on how producers work today.
“With Reason 14, we set out to rethink the music-making workflow,” said Mattias Häggström Gerdt, Product Manager at Reason Studios. “By centering the experience around the sequencer and bringing key elements of each track and Rack into view, it’s easier to stay focused on what matters most: making music.”
Now available in public beta, the release introduces a new track-centric experience designed to give producers faster access, greater visibility, and more control across their projects.

A new way of working 
At the core of Reason 14 is a redesigned, track-centric workflow that brings key elements of each track directly into the sequencer. 
 
The new Track Panel provides a full overview of devices, signal chains, send levels, and panning for the selected track—reducing the need to move between views. Combined with Rack per Track, which gives each track its own dedicated Rack column, navigation becomes more immediate and intuitive. 
 
A redesigned floating Rack window adds flexibility, allowing producers to work in a more modern, plugin-like environment when needed. The workflow remains modular, enabling users to adopt it fully or integrate it into their existing setup.

A more capable sequencer
Reason 14 introduces meaningful updates to the sequencer, focused on speed and usability:

• Looped clips for faster arrangement and editing 
• Improved piano roll editing, including velocity handles

Introducing RV-9 Reverb Station
Reason 14 also introduces RV-9 Reverb Station, the long-awaited successor to the widely used RV7000 Mkll Advanced Reverb. 
 
Rebuilt from the ground up, RV-9 combines algorithmic and convolution techniques to deliver richer, more detailed spatial effects. It includes a full range of reverb types—from realistic spaces and hardware to unique granular and spectral algorithms—along with modern features such as shimmer, ducking, and integrated EQ. 
 
Designed for both immediacy and depth, RV-9 continues Reason’s legacy of creative, high-quality audio tools.

Reason Studios Introduces Reason 14 with a Reimagined Workflow

Reason Studios&#8217; latest device takes the range and control of a multiband dist and pairs it with a modular core. 
 
Modular 
A matrix of nine freely routable effect slots lets you shape your own signal paths from subtle tape 
saturation to speaker-melting noise. Build chains the way you want using series, parallel, or 
feedback and instantly re-patch in seconds. Osmium comes with four distortion modules covering 
four main areas — Saturation, Overdrive, Wavefolder, and Bitcrush, backed by supporting effects 
like dynamics, filters, EQ and a bunch of creative FX.
Multiband 
Three frequency bands for processing and a modulation matrix featuring two LFOs, a curve sequencer, an envelope follower, and CV control. Distort your bass while leaving the low-end intact, add different effects to different bands, or use it on your mix to give your production that extra something.
Made for the Rack 
Osmium is fully integrated into the Reason Rack with built-in CV and modulation. External effect loops let you patch any device from Reason’s ecosystem directly into Osmium’s signal chain, enabling sounds that couldn’t exist anywhere else and blurring the lines between devices. Osmiumspecific algorithms together with 200+ expertly crafted patches lends the dist a recognizable Reason flavor and makes it feel right at home in the Rack.
All in all, Osmium is a new device built on old principles: precise, playful and unmistakably made by Reason Studios.

Reason Studios Introduces Osmium Distortion Matrix, a new device for the Reason Rack

Stockholm, Sweden – May 2025 Reason Studios has just unveiled their latest player—Arpeggio Lab. It’s described as a new creative tool built not just to generate patterns, but to generate ideas. At its core, Arpeggio Lab splits your chord into two roles: ‘Anchor’ and ‘Movement’. ‘Anchor’ locks in the rhythm while ‘Movement’ fills in the gaps with anything from clean melodic runs to dense, glitched-out melodies. They describe it as ‘50% playable arpeggiator, 50% idea-generator and 100% guaranteed to cure your creative block.’

Reason Studios Launches Arpeggio Lab – A Cure for Creative Block, Disguised as an Arpeggiator

Stockholm, Sweden – April 2, 2025.
Earlier today, Reason Studios announced that their game-changing sample tool ReCycle (originally released in 1994) will be made available for free. In celebration of this, Reason Studios is launching a community-driven campaign revolving around a beat battle hosted by Grammy-winning producer, DJ and music executive Don Cannon. 
ReCycle, known for revolutionizing sample editing in the late 90s, is now offered to a new generation of music producers to preserve its legacy and provide a glimpse into the history of music production. 
ReCycle introduced groundbreaking features that allowed manipulation of loops without affecting tempo, paving the way for new creative possibilities in electronic music. The sample tool quickly became a favorite among producers and played a significant role in the development of genres such as house, techno, and hip-hop. 
In the latest patch – over 30 years after its original release, ReCycle seems to take aim at surviving another 30 as support for Windows on ARM and Apple Silicon is added along with general performance improvements. 
&#8220;When ReCycle was first released, it thrived in community-driven settings, empowering producers to share and innovate together.&#8221; says Calle Malmgren, CMO at Reason Studios. “With this re-release and the &#8216;ReCycle the Beat&#8217;-contest, we&#8217;re bringing it full circle – back to the community where it belongs.&#8221; 
ReCycle the Beat – The Contest That Refuses to Die 
To celebrate ReCycle&#8217;s comeback, Reason Studios is launching a beat battle contest called ‘ReCycle the Beat’. Participants are challenged to flip a given sample using any production methods. Bonus points will be awarded to those who use ReCycle and the winner receives 1 full year of Reason+.
The contest will be hosted by Don Cannon, Grammy-winning producer, DJ and music executive (Jay-Z, OutKast, Playboi Carti, Eminem, 50 Cent, Lil Uzi Vert, 2 Chainz, Jack Harlow)
