Binaurel Advanced Panner

Put on headphones. Bring a whispered vocal close to one ear, then send a synth circling behind you. Binaurel uses measurements from a KU100 dummy head to give mono and stereo sources direction, height and distance. Requires Reason 14 or later.

Give each sound a place

Keep a lead vocal close and centred while a delay return passes over one shoulder. Binaurel shapes the sound for each ear independently, using filters measured on a KU100 dummy head. One input places a single source. Connect both inputs to spread a stereo pair by up to 180° while moving it around the listener.

Make distance audible

Pull a percussion hit from 20 cm to 20 m away. Its direct level falls, the air softens the high end, and the reflections become more prominent. Dial in a tight booth or a large hall, then turn Early / Late towards Early to keep the first reflections while pulling back the tail.

Play the movement from the rack

Patch a sawtooth LFO into Azimuth CV for a continuous orbit. Automate Elevation to lift the sound overhead on a fill, or use Vary Spatial to give a sustained pad a slow, wandering path. Six rear CV inputs control azimuth, elevation, distance, width, room and head size.
