Hopper Note Accumulator

Fill the tank

DOODOV DIGITAL DESIGN

  • • Your notes fall into a tank and drain in time
  • • Fill it while you play, then take the plug out
  • • Reshape a phrase: order, rate, chords, odds

A tank for the notes you play.

Hopper catches every note you play and drops it into a tank. The tank drains in time — one note per step, at a musical rate — so a chord you hold becomes a line, a fast flurry becomes a steady stream, and a phrase you played once keeps coming back out in whatever order you choose.

Three ways to work with it:

  • Direct — the tank is a rate limiter. Play anything and it comes out at your chosen rate, the flurries evened out, the gaps filled.
  • Accumulate — the tank fills while you play and stays put. Tap Play to let it run, hold Play to spill only as long as you hold it.
  • Threshold — set a level line in the tank and play. When the pile reaches the line, the tank tips out on its own.

Choose how it empties

Notes leave oldest first, newest first, lowest first, highest first, at random, at random without repeats, or alternating from both ends. Switch to Loop and nothing is consumed: the tank keeps circulating what it holds, with a playhead running up the pile so you can see it. Chords can leave whole, strummed or one note at a time.

Two engines and a set of dice

The SEQ engine drains at one rate. The PATTERN engine walks eight segments, each with its own rate and note count, for pulses that shift and settle. On top of either, Pressure bends the rate with how full the tank is, and the stochastic rate section rolls dice every few notes to jump the rate a step or three up or down, for as long as you set — with the odds in your hands, weight by weight.

Everything in view, everything patchable

The tank display shows the pile slot by slot, chords as solid blocks, the note just drained, the threshold line you can drag, and the loop playhead. The activity strip shows the dice rolling before they land. On the back: 13 CV inputs for play, flush, threshold, rate and nine more modulation targets, plus 52 automatable parameters and 21 patches to start from.
