Classic dub leans on a familiar set of tools: a filter sweep on the echo, a spring reverb that blooms and decays, and a siren or phaser thrown in for drama. Dub Foundation FX bundles seven devices built for a sound system dub world in the Reason rack. The HighPass Filter 1012 is directly inspired by King Tubby’s “big knob” high-pass sweep, Champion 636 supplies the characteristic spring reverb and TE TapeEcho Mk2 the tape delay at the heart of any dub session. The 4 Channel Dub Preamp is modeled after the live performance tool that a sound- system operator uses to route and manipulate the mix in real time at a dub session, not a studio production device, though in Reason it’s yours to use however you like. Add the Janus 2X Phaser, EKSSBOX Mk3 Siren and TAPEFUNK M10 for movement, flourishes and tape warmth, and you have a full signal chain in one bundle.
