Lynx: Song Finisher is an advanced, algorithmic MIDI note player and chord sequencer designed to end writer’s block and bring your musical ideas to the finish line. Beneath its interface lies a complex Markov-chain generation engine and deep music theory logic capable of understanding your existing chord progressions, matching their style, and mathematically deducing what should come next—or what should have come before. Whether you are generating complex, genre-specific voicings from scratch, mapping out tension and release across a timeline, or feeding it a loop to generate a perfectly complementary bridge or chorus, Lynx acts as a virtual co-writer. It translates raw mathematical probabilities, negative harmony, and voice-leading algorithms into immediate, deeply human musical performances.

Lynx: Song Finisher is built around a hexagonal Chord Matrix — up to 16 chord slots arranged so that adjacent hexes are always a natural harmonic step apart, letting you navigate an entire key’s harmonic space by feel rather than by theory recall. Populate the matrix instantly from any Root and Scale, or switch to Listen mode and play your own progression in; Lynx builds a chord dictionary from what it hears and detects the key automatically. From there, the Output Lane sequences your progression across 1 to 16 bars, with per-chord subdivisions down to 1/16, individual length locking, and octave-shift control per chord — so you’re not just picking chords, you’re composing a timeline of harmonic movement, tension, and release.
Underneath, a full macro layer lets you reshape any progression — generated, imported, or hand-built — without touching a single note directly. Extension probabilities for 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths, augmented, diminished and suspended chords layer in complexity to taste; Modality controls how confidently a chord commits to major or minor; Secondary Dominant and Tritone Substitution injection add jazz-standard voice-leading tension; and Negative Harmony flips your progression through its tonal axis for an instant, theory-correct reharmonization. Twenty Voice presets and six Tone settings shape the character of the voicings themselves, from Pure triads to Cinematic clusters, while independent Voice Leading, Syncopation, Humanize, and Strum controls determine how those chords actually get played — smooth and minimal-movement, or wide and performative. Bass is handled as its own logic layer, sent to a dedicated CV output that can be patched independently of the main MIDI note stream, so your low end and your chord voicings never have to compete for the same signal path.
Lynx is equally at home generating a chorus from nothing and finishing a chorus you’ve already started.
