Reason 14 is here, which means there’s no better time to upgrade if you have an earlier edition of Reason.
If you’re weighing the pros and cons of upgrading, we think there’s a lot to be excited about in this new edition.
Aside from the all-new RV-9 Reverb Station, Reason 14 adds so many highly requested workflow and interface updates that it’s hard to sum up in a few sentences.
But in this post, we’ll try our best. Here are 14 reasons to upgrade to Reason 14.
1. A faster, more modern workflow with Track Panel

Reason 14 is built on a new track-centric workflow that keeps everything in one Track Panel.
With your Rack signal chain, mixer levels, and sends in one panel, it’s easy to add, browse, and re-order Rack instruments and effects without leaving the sequencer.
The entire interface keeps you in your creative flow, never requiring you to shift your focus.
2. Better organization with Track Folders

A long-requested feature, Track Folders, can now group tracks together or hide them when you’re not working on them.
Now you can group drums, vocals, guitars, or synths together and arrange, copy, or edit several tracks at once.
3. Smarter clips
MIDI, automation and audio clips have a new streamlined look, but more importantly, they can be dragged out as loops right in the sequencer.
Adjusting automation or MIDI in one clip applies the same changes to other copies of the same clip, so you don’t have to adjust or copy and paste changes manually.
4. MIDI note chase
Another long-requested feature, toggling MIDI note chase in your settings, makes it possible to hear MIDI notes when the playhead starts inside of them.
No more backing up to the beginning of a note to audition changes. Now, you can hear how your droning pads sound no matter where you start the playhead.
5. Automatic tempo detection
A simple but important time-saver.
In Reason 14, whenever you import an audio loop, Reason will accurately estimate its tempo and adjust timing accordingly.
6. One Rack per Track
No more cluttered Racks or scrolling to find the corresponding track when you’re in the Reason Rack.
Now, Reason 14 automatically creates a column for each track, making it much easier to locate Rack devices for each track while keeping your Rack section clean and easy to navigate.
7. The brand new RV-9 Reverb Station

RV-9 Reverb Station is the inspiring new reverb device included with Reason 14, earning its title with nine entirely new algorithms. We’re certain RV-9 is the new go-to reverb that producers will love.
Its modern effect settings open up sprawling creative options like Granular Reverb soundscapes, freezing Spectral Reverb and Echoverb, a delay that progressively smears inputs into altogether lusher and stranger tails.
For everything else, the revamped classic algorithms cover Room, Hall, Arena, Cathedral, Spring and Plate with exceptional realism.
Shimmer, ducking and a fully parametric EQ are built in throughout, making it easy to shape the space or just let it breathe.
8. Over 900 new drum samples
On top of the huge collection of samples already bundled into Reason, Reason 14 adds over 900 new drum samples made in-house from our drum machine collections and real drum kits recorded exclusively for Reason 14.
Find everything from brand-new kicks to claps, hats, cymbals, FX and more in a variety of styles and genres.
9. 50 fresh Europa patches
Check out all the new Europa patches from beloved Reason sound designers, including Adam Fielding, Michael Oakley, Sèan Murray, SKP Sound Design and Oscar Hildingsson.
You’ll find a huge variety of new sounds from poly synths to basses, pads, plucks, percussion and more.
10. New impulse responses and patches for RV7000 mkII
If adding an entirely new reverb device wasn’t enough, we’ve also added a selection of 20 new impulse responses and 20 new patches specifically made for the classic RV7000 mkII.
Find a variety of short, medium and long tail impulse responses, all recorded in real spaces.
11. DAW modernization updates
In Reason 14, the DAW catches up to the future with several quality-of-life improvements.
Dive into a cleaner interface that makes it easy to access important tools like Groove, Edit Area and Keys with buttons for each front and center.
For fans of Dark Mode, the mixer is now consistent with the rest of the theme, meaning you won’t blind yourself when pulling up the mixer during a late-night mix session.
On top of that, the Pencil Tool will now delete existing notes for faster sequencing without switching tools. Plus, MIDI velocities in the piano roll are much easier to adjust with larger clickable handles.
Yes, these are all small changes, but the sum total equals a smoother workflow that keeps you focused on what matters most: making music.
