KBN-C Kinetic Bouncing Note Catcher
Bounce your notes
- • Every note you play becomes a bouncing ball
- • You choose the pitches, physics finds the rhythm
- • 8 balls, chord capture, scales and deep CV
Play a note. Watch it bounce.
KBN-C is a note player that catches the notes you play and turns each one into a ball. The ball launches from the centre of an enclosed arena and replays its note every time it hits a wall, crosses one of two trip lines or collides with another ball. Up to eight balls share the arena: you choose the pitches, the physics finds the rhythm.
Your playing shapes the motion. The pitch of a note decides its direction — C flies straight up, and every semitone turns the launch a little further clockwise. The velocity decides its pace: soft notes drift, hard notes dart, and they replay louder too. Play a chord and the whole chord rides on a single ball.
Steer it anywhere between ambient and grid
- Give each of the eight slots its own speed and hit probability
- Let balls live from half a second to a minute, or hold them until replaced
- Play free, or quantize every bounce to the song grid
- Keep everything in key with 10 scales that correct captured notes
- Drop in two trip lines that fire quick note bursts stepping up or down the scale
- Strum chords, separate unisons, and choose whether collisions play or stay silent
More than notes
Every ball also sends its own gate/note CV pair and X/Y position CV, so KBN-C can play separate monophonic instruments or turn movement into modulation. 33 CV inputs let you trigger, speed up, mute and randomise balls and lines from anywhere in the rack.
Put it on a bell, a pluck, a piano or a drum kit, play a few notes, and let the arena take over.
