Step Farther
Step Sequencer
- • 8-stage CV sequencer with analog-style slide
- • 30 quantizer scales, 16 direction modes
- • Random section with per-parameter chance
Step Farther is an 8-stage CV/gate sequencer with an analog-style slide, deep per-stage modulation,
and a dual CV routing matrix.
Each of the 8 stages carries its own pitch, pulse count, gate mode, ratchet variant, slide and skip setting, so a single sequence can move between melodic runs and rhythmic variation without repatching.
Sixteen direction modes decide how the sequence steps from stage to stage, from straightforward forward/reverse and ping-pong through random and Brownian motion to drunken walks, pendulum motion, odd-then-even patterns, pivot, shuffled and chord-order stepping.
Thirty quantizer scales keep pitch output musical, from standard majors and minors through modal and exotic sets (Hirajoshi, Iwato, In-Sen, Kumoi, Pelog, Arabic, Hungarian Minor, Spanish and more).
The AUX A and AUX B inputs each route an external CV to one of 11 destinations — gate length, sequence length, step division, ratchet, pitch offset (pre- or post-quantize, free or scale-locked), octave or root note — turning a second modulation source into real-time performance control over the whole sequence.
A dedicated random section adds independent chance and range controls for pitch, pulse, gate and ratchet, with a manual trigger and an adjustable auto-fire period, so patterns can drift and vary without losing their shape.
A custom high-resolution display shows stage position, note, scale, gate mode, ratchet and transport state at a glance. Ships with 18 factory patches.
