Splitfire Furioso
A compact, aggressive live sampler Rack Extension designed for one purpose: getting stacked. Three voices, sixteen slices, twenty CV inputs, two rack units. Five instances in a Combinator decompose a groove into independent rhythmic voices at lower RAM cost than one full-sized sampler.
Capture, slice, play
Recording is one button press. Three rec modes — HOLD captures while held, FIXED captures a defined length, Q quantizes to transport bars. The IN meter shows incoming level. The waveform display updates live as you record. Up to eight seconds of stereo audio per instance.
Slicing is automatic (transient detection) or manual (equal divisions, 1–16). Either is overridable in real time via the cv_slices CV input — patch an LFO and the slice density modulates continuously, producing polyrhythmic textures from a single audio source.
Two play modes, four voice modes
Slice mode plays one slice per note, mapped from a settable root. Pitch mode plays the whole sample pitched across the keyboard, with START and END knobs defining the playable region. Both modes work with Poly (3-voice polyphonic), Mono (single voice with envelope re-attack), Legato (single voice with envelope preserved), and Retrigger (hard reset on same-note) voice modes.
Loop on/off with equal-power crossfade, capped to keep short loops audible. Speed knob with center detent at unity, ranging 0–3× including a deliberate aliasing zone for “tape going too fast” character. Bit-depth and sample-rate degradation reaching Akai S900 / SP-12 territory at maximum.
20 CV inputs, 2 CV outputs
Built to be driven externally. Every musical parameter has additive CV modulation: speed, portamento, attack, release, volume, loop length, pitch region, and stutter rate and window size for continuously-modulatable texture generation. Gates for record, clear, mute, and stutter engage. Per-voice direct outputs for parallel processing. Outputs for current slice count and playhead position enable self-syncing patches.
Click-free across every mode
Six interlocking fixes eliminate the gain-step and waveform-discontinuity clicks. Click-free across all combinations of voice mode, play mode, and loop mode. Recording over actively-playing voices is safe — voices continue through an atomic buffer swap protected by a per-voice fade-in.
Built for live use
Front-panel mute button and CV for performance routing. Speed control with tactile center detent. Bit-depth and sample-rate degradation for character. Input level meter. Live waveform display with playhead tracking. Two rack units of fury per instance.

In the Splitfire family
Splitfire Furioso is the compact sibling of Splitfire Rubato, the expressive flagship sampler. Both share the same sampler DNA — voice allocation, click-free guarantees, musical-feel decisions — but serve different needs. Rubato for the single delicate phrase. Furioso for stacking five voices in a Combinator.
